The NCAA announced the 16 teams who will be hosting the regional round of the NCAA baseball tournament and for the first time since 1999, both Alabama and Auburn have been selected as a host.

Both teams will welcome three other teams to the regional. After a double-elimination tournament over a three-day span, one team will advance to the super regional round as one of the final 16 teams competing for a nation championship. The winners of the super regional round will advance to Omaha to play in the College World Series.

Alabama will host the Tuscaloosa Regional for the first time since 2006. The Crimson Tide grabbed two wins during the SEC Tournament in Hoover last week to put the final touches on its resume which was enough to convince the selection committee. The Crimson Tide is 27-8 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium so far this season.

The program is now searching for its first super regional appearance since 2010 and its first College World Series appearance since 1999.

Alabama currently sits with a 40-19 record. Since Brad Bohannon was fired shortly after being connected to a gambling scandal in early May, Alabama has won 10 of 14 games.

For the first time in program history, Auburn is hosting a regional for a second consecutive season. The Tigers made a run to Omaha last season and they will be searching for their third appearance in the College World Series since 2019.

Auburn won just one game in Hoover before being eliminated by the Crimson Tide. It still sits with a 34-21 record, winning nine of its final 11 games.

The two teams will wait one more night to find out which opponents they will be hosting along with their possible path to a national championship. The entirety of the NCAA Tournament field will be announced Monday at 11 a.m.
