A Sipsey man was arrested after the body of a person who had been dead for days was found inside a Walker County home.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office said 61-year-old Leandrew Smith Jr. was charged with 'abuse of corpse.'

Deputies responded to 4th Avenue West in Sipsey in regards to a family member found dead inside the home.
