Birmingham medical group treating 500 patients daily with pop-up clinic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — A medical group in Birmingham has found a solution to keeping patients safe during the pandemic.

Southview Medical Group said they're treating 500 patients a day through video conferencing and telemedicine for severe respiratory issues, including COVID-19 symptoms.

The group created a "sick clinic" with its own lab and x-ray room.

Southview also created a pop-up Phlebotomy lab at the door for patients only needing blood work.

Southview also created "well areas" with a designated lab.

So far they said they have treated 107 patients with COVID-19. Nine of those tests came back positive for the new coronavirus.
