The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office is still working on a case nearly 20 years after an 11-year-old girl was reporting missing in Northport.
Heaven Ross went missing in August 2003, triggering a response of search crews made up of law enforcement members and volunteers but Ross was not found. Over three years later, human remains were found at an abandoned house in the Holt area and they were eventually identified as the 11-year-old girl.

No details on the timing or cause of her death have been released. Capt. Jack Kennedy with the Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Office said the case has never been closed and remains active with the office's Violent Crimes Unit.
There have been no new details released but Ross would have turned 31 this Monday (June 12) and Kennedy sent out a release to remind the public of her death and the ongoing investigation.
