Garth Brooks stands up for inclusivity, keeps Bud Light on tap at his Nashville bar
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WOAI) — Country superstar Garth Brooks didn't hesitate when asked if his new Nashville bar will be serving Bud Light amid the bashing the brand has taken due to its partnership with a transgender influencer.
And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer," Brooks said during an interview with Billboard magazine. "We just are. It’s not our decision to make. Our thing is this, if you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an a–hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.
Bud Light has come under fire after they partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney earlier this year. Alissa Heinerscheid, the vice president of marketing for Bud Light, reportedly took a leave of absence after criticism snowballed into nationwide calls for boycotts of the Anheuser-Busch beer brand.
Those boycotts reportedly enjoyed support from a majority of Americans, as well as several other recording artists, including Kid Rock, Travis Tritt and John Rich. Kid Rock and John Rich have both removed Bud Light from their Nashville bars.
Brooks said during the interview that his Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk will be opening soon in Nashville’s famous South Broadway District. And Brooks said he wanted it to be "the Chick-fil-A of honky-tonks."
"I want it to be a place you feel safe in, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another," he said.
