Corrections officer charged; Admits to bringing contraband to inmate
Former Kilby Corrections Officer Charlie Townsend was arrested on June 10, 2023.

According to a release from the Alabama Department of Corrections, Townsend confessed to bringing contraband to an inmate. He then signed a voluntary resignation.
Townsend is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, use of position for personal gain, and second degree promoting prison contraband. He is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center on a total bond of $775,000.
